Nigerian Army on Monday said its troops have detected and gunned down three Boko Haram female suicide bombers, killing both instantly.
The troops said the three female suicide bombers attempted to attack Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the outskirt of Monguno town along Marte road.
The Army spokesman, Sani Usman made this disclosure in a statement issued on Monday, disclosing that two civilians were injured by explosive the suicide bombers were strapped on when it exploded.
He said injured persons were taken to the 8 Task Force Division’s medical facility for medical attention.
Usman further explained that the third suicide bomber that followed a different route exploded some distance before troops plied along the same road at about 7.10am.
He however disclosed that troops have taken over the area and have placed restriction of movement into Monguno.
