Men of the Inspector-General of Police special task force on Sunday took on men suspected to be members of the insurgency group Boko Haram.

The violent engagement took place in Kano state and ended with the police killing three of the insurgents and arresting two women believed to be their wives.

This comes on the heels of the Saturday success enjoyed in the counter-insurgency fightby men of the Nigeria Army.

The Army spokesperson, Major-General Sani Usman, disclosed that troops of 103 Battalion neutralised three female suicide bombers trying to infiltrate Kawuri in Konduga local government area of Borno state.

He said the group, upon being sighted, were given fair warning which they did not heed.

“Consequently, the troops neutralised them instantly.

“The remains of the suicide bombers have since been evacuated from the location.

“The general public is please requested to continue to support troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and report any suspicious movements of persons to the military or security agencies.”
