Posted by: Mr. Babatunde« on: July 10, 2017, 11:28:42 AM »The Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, in Niger State, Abdullahi Maje has confirmed that 3 bodies have been found dead and about 10 People declared missing due to flood incident in the area. He said the flood which started around 12 midnight had affected more than 100 houses in the Local Government area alone, disclosing further that the remaining victims are being searched for. He said, ”We made a call to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and officials from the agency responded swiftly by sending alongside officials from State Emergency Management Agency who came in this morning.” An Official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Egrigba Michael who spoke to journalists said an emergency call was put through to them from a zonal coordinator, Mohammed Idris about the incident, and they immediately moved to Suleja. He said on getting to Suleja, they rescued a victim and took him to the Suleja General Hospital. He confirmed that many houses were taken over by the flood , and property worth millions on naira were wrecked. He said there was a family of eight, where, only one person was found dead and the other seven are still missing. The District Police Officer in-charge of Division A Police Station in Suleja, Mr Mohammed Mohammed, said his men had visited the flood scene. He added that the flood affected a lot of houses built along the river bank. VIDEO
