In the early hours of Friday, the kidnapping of Mohammadu Buhari Jamiu, a Muslim cleric from Ilorin, sparked panic in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

A video of him being taken from his home in Ilorin in the early hours of Friday has gone viral, with the caption "Buhari Omo Musa" in the background.

However, contrary to popular belief, Buhari Omomusa, a truly well-known and prolific preacher, is secure, alive, and well.

In the background of the viral video, the voice of the alleged abducted cleric's wife could be heard pleading for help to pay the N5 million ransom requested by the unknown kidnappers.

The mysterious kidnappers allegedly demanded N30 million in ransom, but after talks, they were reduced to N5 million, according to another male voice on the videotape.

Fans of Buhari Omomusa were alarmed by the kidnapping situation and pleaded for his safe return from the abductors.

Due to the identical names, some people believe the development is a case of mistaken identity; others believe it is a hoax designed to defraud the public and the government.

Buhari Omomusa denied the claim in an interview with a radio station, claiming that he was safe and that no kidnapping had taken place.

SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, branded the video footage as fake when contacted by phone on Friday.

"The Alhaji Tunde Buhari, who was kidnapped in Oluwalose Community in the Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin, had been rescued and made public," he stated.

He went on to say, "Even the second victim kidnapped along with Tunde Buhari has also been rescued."

According to reports, the two rescued victims were abducted recently in the Oko-Olowo neighborhood of Ilorin, the state capital.
