
The Osun Amotekun Corps has on Friday paraded a 26-year-old man, John Uba, for alleged armed robbery and escape from police custody.
Confirming the suspect arrest to journalists during a parade held at the Osun Amotekun Headquarters in Osogbo, the Corps Commander, Dr. Isaac Omoyele, said Uba was arrested for alleged theft of mobile phones and other valuables.
According to Omoyele “On the 17th of April, 2025, at about 00:03hrs, we received intelligence from the Fiwasaye area in Osogbo about an ongoing armed robbery operation. Our officers responded immediately and successfully arrested one of the culprits, John Uba,a 26-year-old male, for the theft of mobile phones and other valuables.”
The Osun Amotekun Corps commander further explained that investigation revealed that the suspect had previously escaped from the Ota-Efun Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
“He also confessed to being a repeat offender. The suspect has since been handed over to the Ota-Efun Police Division for further investigation and prosecution” Omoyele said.
Others paraded are ; one Aderemi Sheriff, 28 years, arrested for alleged theft of cable wires valued at N5.6 million at Hammed Omidiran University, Kolabalogun area, Osogbo, and one Saheed Babatunde, a 26-year-old male, in connection with the theft of iron steel valued at N280,000 tracked to his hideout in Isale-Osun, Osogbo, where he was arrested.
Omoyele stressed that the suspects who confessed to their various crimes during interrogation will be prosecuted accordingly.
He urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and continue supporting efforts of the Osun Amotekun Corps by reporting any suspicious activity to them or other security agencies
“We call on the good people of Osun State to continue supporting our efforts by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to the Amotekun Corps or other security agencies.
With a growing personnel strength now exceeding 1,450 officers, Osun Amotekun Corps remains more determined and better equipped to protect lives and property” he assured residents of the state.
