A retired Army Captain, Benedict Olusoji Akanni has been appointed as the new Field Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps.
 
The appointment was confirmed by Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
 
Captain Akanni’s appointment comes after the resignation of Amitolu Shittu, the first Field Commander of the security outfit.
 
Shittu had tendered his resignation in an open letter on January 20, 2023.
 
Amotekun is a security network jointly formed by all South-West governors.
 
It was set up to complement the efforts of other federal security agencies to tackle crimes in the South West zone.
 
The appointment according to details made available by Yussuf Idowu, the Spokesperson of Osun Amotekun on Tuesday, takes immediate effect.
