on: June 16, 2019, 08:05:40 PM

Two cars were destroyed as heavy container fell on the cars. Heavy-duty vehicles are scattered across Apapa due to the location of different ports in the area.

At least the two cars which destroyed after a container fell on them around Tin Can Island port in Apapa, Lagos, occurs on Saturday.

It’s not clear if there were casualties but the affected vehicles were badly damaged.

Heavy-duty vehicles are scattered across Apapa due to the location of different ports in the area.

To reduce traffic congestion and possibly minimize accidents, the federal government recently set up a task force to restore sanity to the roads in the area.

Recalled that the Federal Government on Friday extended by two weeks, the time given to the Presidential Taskforce on the Apapa traffic gridlock to resolve the matter following a request for extension by members of the taskforce and other stakeholders.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, approved the extension at a meeting of the Presidential Taskforce with stakeholders at the Presidential Villa, earlier in the week.

The taskforce, according to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, commenced its assignment on May 24 and had up to June 7 to complete the assignment.

He said that the panel was expected to present a formal report at the end of its extended mandate on June 24.
