It doesn’t take long for us to find out what overturned the van at the end of the previous episode — that hulking Abomination-looking creature, now even bigger. Circumstances look rather dire, but Yi-kyung arrives in the nick of time to pin the behemoth to the wall. Yu-ri remains trapped in the van’s wreckage, from which Sang-wook is just about able to free her before its explosion sets the monster alight and Yi-kyung is able to ram him again with the fire truck — right off the edge of the building. It falls several stories and ends up both impaled and stuck beneath a burning container. Good riddance.

In the meantime, knowing something was wrong, Eun-Hyeok performs the appendectomy on Ji-su anyway. Yi-kyung wants to know every detail about how Hyun-su has been, for reasons obvious to us but not to Eun-hyeok.

A bit later she interrogates Hyun-su directly about his experiences, a little frantically all things considered. She tells him about being caught by the soldiers and what she was told about the other test subjects — also that she gave Hyun-su’s existence away.

News of another infection, Seon-yeong, makes for a stark contrast to the earlier vote about whether to allow Hyun-su to stay — the group is much more close-knit now. Everyone agrees she should stay in the arcade rather than leave, but she’s visibly struggling with the reality, crying to Hyun-su, who offers little in the way of advice. He does quietly cry to himself though, which is something.

Yi-kyung is conflicted having been instructed to send messages back to the soldiers on the promise of being told where her fiancé is. As the rest of the group gets drunk on four-year-old Korean wine, she’s attacked in the shower by a runaway soldier.

Hyun-su continues to struggle with his past, but he sees someone different when he looks in the mirror now. Perhaps to symbolize this, he cuts his hair. Meanwhile, Ji-Su wakes up after the surgery to find Jae-heon at her bedside.

The soldier, Jang Ju-seong, wakes up after eating all the fermented berries at the bottom of the wine jar. He claims he shouldn’t be there and seems terrified by the voice at the other end of his radio. Looks like it’s time to take down that SOS sign.

Yi-kyung goes to see Seon-yeong to tell her how she’ll be over the worst after 15 days, but right on time her infection suddenly worsens and her nose starts pouring blood. At the same time, Hyun-su and Sang-wook, on their way back down from the roof, run into the ill-fated building manager, now a particularly grim monster with a face of buzzing flies. Jae-heon fights him but ends up getting his arm sliced off at the shoulder. With his spare, he stabs the manager zombie from behind and runs him into the elevator, as an awesome shot sees them fight through the opening and closing doors. He insists that the others burn the pair of them, and Eun-hyeok throws the Molotov inside the elevator.
