We pick up in Sweet Home episode 7 right where we left off, with the boys (and Ji-Su) pinned down by the cool-looking goat-legged glowy monster. Once they make their escape in a van, though, it turns out many more monsters are nearby, and a super fun chase ensues with all kinds of critters hanging from the roof and banging on the windows.
Let’s not forget about Du-sik and the spidery creature he’s tussling with. He’s able to fight it off with the help of Eun-Yu and the others stringing it up with a pulley, but it takes Hyun-su and his electric staff to really give it a frying, even if his eyes turn black during the encounter and leave everyone else looking on a little nervously.
With all that attended to, it’s time to decompress. Wounds are bandaged up, cigarettes are smoked, stern conversations are had. Hyun-su is allowed to roam and eat with the others, though he ends up dining with Sang-wook, the other outcast, though they’re not allowed to sulk for long.
The pressure is getting to some, however. Eun-heok and Eun-yu share a wordless moment after he slapped her in the previous episode, and Su-yeong would rather tote a gun around than play after her recent brush with mortality. At the same time, some are getting too comfortable, venturing into the basement to retrieve packages. There’s a real sense that something is going to go badly wrong here — and soon.
Yi-kyong, meanwhile, is released from captivity. Apparently none of the so-called “special infected” (very Left 4 Dead) have made it past 15 days. That seems to be the cutoff point.
With supplies running desperately low, Eun-hyeok plans to venture outside for resources; those most likely to succeed will be the ones going, led by Sang-wook.
Before that, though, Ji-su takes a bad turn, collapsing in the bathroom with presumed appendicitis. She needs surgery. Eun-hyeok can perform it, but there’s a higher chance of her dying than surviving, though no chance of her surviving at all otherwise, so she agrees. An ad hoc operating theatre is set up, and Yu-ri goes with Sang-wook and Hyun-su to retrieve medical supplies.
This, we’re reminded, was Hyun-su’s planned suicide date, but he’s far too busy for that. Flashbacks reveal the extent of the bullying Hyun-su suffered, his worsening relationships as a result, and the deterioration of his mental health. But as the truck leaves Green Home, he finally has a new, clear purpose — to survive. The only problem is he might not have much chance to, since the vehicle is flipped over like a toy.
