It is no longer news that the Lagos State University (LASU) has been in deep crisis following the loggerheads between the Vice Chancellor of the institution and the Unions in the school. Findings have shown that the current crisis may affect some of the courses offered in the institution.
It was learnt that courses like Law, Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Management Technology, English, Yoruba, Theatre Arts, Music and Philosophy currently have accreditation issues with the National Universities Commission while the Accounting department of the institution before now was denied accreditation.
The NUC was supposed to visit on June 2nd but that visit did not hold because of the lingering crisis in the institution. If this situation remains the same in the institution, these degree programmes may lose NUC’s Approval.
This with some other issues that are affecting the university are what the new administration led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is expected to look into and find a way of resolving them.
