EBSU students feared dead, others suffocate in an overcrowded exam hall

Images alleged to have been captured at the Ebonyi State University (EBSU), have surfaced online showing several students in an unconscious state being rushed to the school medical center for care after passing out due to overcrowded exam halls.

The state-owned university had just resumed for the completion of the 2019/2020 academic session and commenced the writing of examinations.

The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday, February 10, ahead of a GST exam. It is alleged that a large number of students suffocated while struggling to secure a space in the overcrowded exam hall. An unconfirmed number of student(s) are also alleged to have died from the incident after suffocating and never regaining consciousness.

The university is yet to release an official statement on the alleged incident.
